Cooking with cast iron cookware

Light-colored enamel is particularly well suited for slow cooking at low to medium temperatures. Always heat cast iron slowly to achieve optimal results. High temperatures should only be used for boiling water or reducing liquids.

Black enamel is specially developed for searing at high surface temperatures. For products with a black enameled interior, seasoning prior to first use is recommended.

Oven use

Products with a phenolic lid knob are suitable for oven temperatures up to 200 °C. Models with a stainless steel knob can be used at any temperature.

Always place cast iron cookware on an oven rack or baking tray and not directly on the oven floor to ensure even cooking results.


Seasoning – how it works

  • Clean the product with dishwashing liquid and dry thoroughly
  • Place the cold cookware on the hob and fill with approx. 0.5 cm of high-heat oil
  • Heat the oil at medium temperature (do not leave unattended)
  • Allow to cool and pour out the oil
  • Only required before first use or after dishwasher cleaning

With regular use, a natural patina develops, improving the cooking performance. This patina should not be removed.


Cleaning black Silk Enamel

  • Do not remove the patina – it improves searing results
  • Allow the product to cool before cleaning
  • Clean with warm water, soak briefly if necessary
  • Use a nylon brush; avoid abrasive cleaners
  • Dry thoroughly and store in a dry place

Note: Cast iron is extremely durable but can be damaged if dropped. Such damage is not covered by the warranty.
